Pedicure Love

I stuck my feet in the hot, bath salted water, prepared to let my feet absorb all the feel-goodness.  But I saw the water level raise significantly when I stuck my first foot in, and when I stuck my second one in, over the side sloshed the water!

"I should've got a towel!" I said aloud.  Then, after a moment, "...Honey?"  Stephen was studiously watching some YouTube videos.  I put on my sweetest smile and asked, "Could you please get me a towel?  I filled it too full."

My sweet husband got me a towel and even placed it under the bin for me.

I once again slid in my feet, water sloshing over the edge until it reached just below the rim of the tub.  "I gotta do this for, like, 10 minutes or something... Oh darn it!  Why didn't I get a book or something?  The things I don't think of..."  I slid my eyes over to Stephen again, who had sat back down on the couch.  I let the silence draw out a little.

Stephen looked back at me with raised eyebrows and a smile.  "Do you want me to get you a book?" Stephen asked.  I put on my cute smile and nodded vigorously.

He went over to the nearest bookshelf and pulled off the words and phrases encyclopedia I had gotten for Christmas.  My face fell.  "No, that's too...intellectual.  I want something like my library book, or my Green Recipes book."  I turned big doe eyes on him.  He let out a mock-frustrated sigh, but he was smiling at me.

"My library book, get my library book," I said, trying to save him some frustration.

"Where is it?"

My face clouded.  "Um...I think it's on the bookshelf?"  He pulled up our Meaning of Marriage book by Timothy Keller.  For a second I thought of just telling him to get me that one to save him the trouble, but I really didn't want it.  Smart boy...He turned immediately to the couch and started digging under the pillows and whatnot that regularly accumulate there.  Buried under a cuddly red blanket, he found my library book and graciously handed it to me.

"Thaaaaannnk yooooouuuu!!"  I said, drawing it out so he would know I was REALLY thankful.  "You're wonderful!"

So now I had my book and my towel and was sufficiently satisfied.  Stephen was distracted enough to go into the kitchen and pull out the milk.  He started to pour himself a glass in front of me and suddenly I realized how thirsty sticking your feet in hot water makes you...

I tried not to say anything.

But I couldn't help staring at his glass of milk.  And looking slightly wistfully up at him.

He shook his head good-naturedly at me.  "Would you like some milk?" he asked.

Might as well seize the opportunity!  I nodded.  "Just a drink."

Still shaking his head, he pushed the glass over to me and I quenched my thirst.

THEN I was finally happy.  :)  I thanked him emphatically again and reminded him how much I love him.

"I need my back stroked!--I mean, my ego stroked," he corrected himself.

But I only heard the first part, actually.  "I'll give you a full back rub, with the cream stuff!"  (I meant shea butter...But the warm, relaxing foot soak was robbing me of my articulation.)

"No, that's not what I meant...But okay!" he said.

LOL.

So I have a very wonderful husband and he is getting a back rub tonight in thanks.  :)  <3 <3 <3
